 2022 Preview 


       Highland Home completed the 2021 season with a 8-6 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region three, the Flying Squadron earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Highland Home made a nice playoff run in 2021, reaching the semi-finals before falling to a very good Clarke County team by the score of 42-21.

       Since 2010, Highland Home has gone a combined 70-63. Their 52.6% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Highland Home has managed to compile a record of 157-125. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 2A and 134th in the AHSAA.




       The Flying Squadron are led by head coach Will Pouncey who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-18 over the past three seasons at Highland Home. Under his direction the Flying Squadron have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Pouncey.

       Coach Pouncey's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 17-18 (48.6%).

       The Highland Home Flying Squadron will play in Class 2A region three during the 2022 season. The Flying Squadron have one of the toughest schedules in Class 2A. Their opponents had a combined record of 63-48 last season. That ranks 2nd in Class 2A and 68th in the AHSAA.

       The Flying Squadron will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season.

       The Flying Squadron open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Providence Christian on Friday, August 19 at Providence Christian Stadium. Last year the Providence Christian Eagles finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 3A region two. The Eagles ended last season on a positive note with a win over Florala by a score of 33-20 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Highland Home and Providence Christian have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Flying Squadron have a 3-0-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2011 with Highland Home winning by a score of 21-17.

       Highland Home returns 2A All-State Senior defensive lineman Keldric Faulk. He was named to the first team last season.
